Fort William Henry Museum (Fort & Museum)
In 1755 Fort William Henry was constructed to command the southern end of Lake George. It was a British outpost to protect the colonies farther to the south and to serve as a launching site against the French held northern end of the lake protected by Fort Carillon. Its short history and violent end has been retold, although inaccurately, in James Fenimore Cooper’s “Last of the Mohicans”.

Lavenlair Fair LLC. (Lavender Farm)
Lavenlair Farm is an ever growing work in progress. A 21st Century zero carbon footprint; geothermal heat, solar hot water, well water, solar electricity, all sourced locally farm. In 2013 we hand built the "Laverinth" a 100ft diameter, lavender planted, Petit-Chartres meditative labyrinth. In 2014 we added 1600 lavender plants and in 2015, 2400 more. In 2016 & 2017 we partnered with Cornell University Extension to host studies of lavender and mint varieties hardy to the North Country. We now have 32 different varieties of lavender 14 varieties of mint on the farm. Located in the rolling hills of the Champlain Valley of NY, our views stretch from the Green Mountains of Vermont to the Adirondacks all with one turn of your head.

The Old Fort House Museum campus consists of 5 buildings and expansive landscaped grounds. Visitors can take a guided tour of the exhibits and then explore the gardens. There is plenty of space to picnic. The Dutch House, a new exhibit was made possible by the Alfred Z. Solomon Charitable Trust. Our latest exhibit, Women’s Suffrage in Washington and Warren Counties, will be displayed there this year in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment in New York State.
